Pension Saving Statements

HMRC have allowed all pension schemes until 6 October 2013 before they have to send Pension Saving Statement’s to members affected by the reduction in the annual allowance from 6 April 2011.

Due to the extensive changes to the annual allowance NHS Pensions is not currently able to provide information in relation to the reduced annual allowance for 2011/12 and 2012/13 or in relation to the ‘carry forward’ years, known as a Pension Savings Statement.  However, all schemes have been given extra time in law (until 6 October 2013) to provide Pension Savings Statements.

If a request is received we will register the request on our records.  NHS Pensions will provide an Annual Allowance Pension Savings Statement by the legislative deadline for both the years 2011/12 and 2012/13, provided that the information to generate a statement has been supplied.

If you are a GP Provider member of this Scheme, you may receive a “provisional” statement if your end of year certificate has still not been received when NHS Pensions begins to provide Pension Savings Statements. The provisional statement will be based on any provisional GP pay data provided by Connecting for Health’s ‘Exeter System’. When your end of year certificate(s) are received you will be sent a confirmed Pension Savings Statement if required.

The Pensions Savings Statement provided will be in a standard format for all members.  This will include the pension input amount for NHS Pension Scheme membership for the year in question and for the three carry forward years.
